Vestry Nominees

All Saints has elections each year for new Vestry members.

Here are our 2026 Vestry nominees:

Onna Cunningham

All Saints has been home to our family for nearly sixteen years. My husband, Ian, and I have watched and are still watching our children, Poppy and Soren, grow up here, starting in the preschool and atrium when they were infants and toddlers and singing in the Good Shepard, Children’s and Youth choirs. Over the past year, I’ve loved becoming part of the Take-A-Meal and Altar Flower Guilds, both of which have deepened my connection to the church and the people who make it so special.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Latin American Studies with a Distinction in Leadership Studies from Birmingham-Southern College and my master’s in Diplomacy from Norwich University. While I didn’t end up working for the State Department, I use those studies and skills every day in my work as a marketing strategist. My focus is on both creative messaging and digital targeting in order to make sure the stories we tell not only inspire but also reach people where they are, when they are.

Beyond work, I served on the Board of Directors for Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama for ten years, including two, three-year terms as Board President, which strengthened my belief in the power of our community and purpose-driven leadership.

I’m passionate about our church, our beloved community, and the saints who bring both to life. I’m also a lifelong student, an insatiable reader, a foodie, and a home cook who wants “a house with a crowded table and a place by the fire for everyone."

Peter Drake

I am a devoted member of All Saints Episcopal Church and a longtime Homewood resident who treasures the strong sense of community and belonging that make both this city and parish so special. I and my wife, Jennifer, are raising three children—Paul (17), Anne Michael (14), and Mary Virginia (12)—all of whom were baptized at All Saints. Each has grown up in the life of the church, attending Camp McDowell, and two currently serve in various Sunday ministries.

My faith is deeply intertwined with my family’s roots in Homewood and my desire to give back to the community that has given us so much. As a U.S. Army veteran, I value integrity, service, and compassion—qualities that guide my daily life and faith journey. I am honored to be considered for the Vestry and look forward to supporting the continued growth, outreach, and spiritual life of All Saints Episcopal Church.

Tom Richeson

I want to thank Julie Jurotich for calling me the other day and asking if I would serve on the All Saints Vestry again for the term of 2026-2029. I took it as a personal compliment that she was asking. I slept on the decision that night and got up the next day and decided “yes” that I’d be glad to do it. I tried to figure out when I last served on the Vestry and the best I could come up with was at least five years ago and more likely around ten.

Most of the parishioners that come to the 5:30PM service are familiar with me, but for parishioners who come to the other services, I regularly serve as an usher and a LEM and on occasion as a Lector when needed. I also serve on the Pastoral Care Committee chaired by Lisa Hallman. In addition I’m a regular participant in the Monday School concerning racial reconciliation chaired by Memily Colvin.

I have been an All Saints parishioner since my late 30s and now as a senior citizen in my early 70s, I want to think that I can still go and do and hopefully be an effective member of the Vestry.  With your vote for my participation in the Vestry again, I’ll be well on my way.

The Lord be with you…

Jim Sanders

Hello, All Saints family! My name is Jim Sanders, and I would be honored to be serve on the Vestry. My wife Betsy and I have been members of the church for about 10 years, and have loved raising our children Dean (5) and Libby (2) at All Saints. I currently serve as an usher and have served on the Youth Steering Committee, and my Betsy wife highly involved in Atrium and the All Saints Day School. Together we have both found deep joy in serving All Saints.

In my free time, I enjoy being outside, coaching youth sports, playing golf, and cooking.

I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to serve on the vestry and to give back to our All Saints community!

Gail Smith

I first joined All Saints in 1979, where I met my husband, Jerry, through a short-lived singles group. We were married here in 1980 and are still going strong! We are blessed with three grown children and six wonderful grandchildren. From 1981 to 1988, we took a short break from All Saints to help establish the new parish church of Saint Francis of Assisi.

Before retiring in November 2023, I worked in the insurance and finance industry, building strategic alliances with bankers and assisting them and their clients with business and estate planning.

I find great joy and fulfillment at All Saints as a longtime member of the Adult Choir, Saint Martha’s Guild, and Prime Time Saints. I also assist the Children’s Choir with administrative tasks and recently joined the Finance Committee.

My hobbies include reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with friends.

I truly appreciate the opportunity to serve the church home that has blessed me and my family so richly over the years.

SIGN UP HERE Shrove Tuesday, also know as "Pancake Tuesday" or "Pancake Day" is the final day before the 40-day period of Lent begins. Its name comes from the Germanic-Old English word “shrive,” meaning absolve, and it is the last day of the liturgical season historically known as Shrovetide. Because it comes directly before Lent, a season of fasting and penitence, this was the day that Christians would go to be “shriven” by their confessor. Shrove Tuesday also became a day for pre-fasting indulgence. In particular, the need to use up rich ingredients such as butter, milk, sugar and eggs before Lent gave rise to the tradition of eating pancakes on this day. On Shrove Tuesday, we also burn the palms distributed during the previous year's Palm Sunday liturgies to make the ashes used during the services held on the very next day, Ash Wednesday.

Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, February 18! Services will be at 12:00pm & 6:00pm . The nursery will be available for infants - 6 years old. Falling six and half weeks before Easter, this will mark the beginning of the forty days of Lent in preparation for Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday. The ashes are a sign of penitence and a reminder of mortality, and may be imposed with the sign of the cross. The Ash Wednesday service is one of the Proper Liturgies for Special Days in the BCP (p. 264). Imposition of ashes at the Ash Wednesday service is optional.
