The Rev. Cindy Carter is Re-Retiring!

Dear friends,


When I came out of retirement to take a part-time position at All Saints as Priest Associate, I committed to myself that I would serve two years and then re-evaluate my future after that. This September will be two years since I arrived here, so a month or so ago I began talking with my daughter and two trusted friends to help me discern what that future might be. As those discussions proceeded, I added discussions with a priest friend and my bishop in the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast.   


I have come to the decision that it is time for me to leave my position here and to return to retirement. I want you to know that Brad and I have come to our decisions independently, and we were both surprised when we shared them in a meeting a week or so ago. 


My last Sunday at All Saints will be July 13th. I have valued my time here in so many ways, making new friends and renewing relationships from my time here as a lay member in the 1990s.  You will always remain in my heart and in my prayers.


Please keep me in your prayers I re-adjust to my life in retirement. I am looking forward to greater flexibility and more time to be with friends and family (interestingly my brother’s last Sunday as a pastor in Lynn Haven will be July 20th), as well as to new adventures and opportunities for service.

Pet Blessing October 7

Our Annual Blessing of the Animals will be Wednesday, October 7 on the Terrell Commons grass area! Bring your lawn chair or blanket to enjoy a hot dog dinner together that starts at 5:30pm, blessing of the animals will be after we eat. The Blessing of the Animals is an annual ceremony celebrating the human-animal bond, originating as part of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment. St. Francis was admired for his deep and genuine respect for all creatures and his belief in the interdependency of humans with the rest of creation. He was a fiery preacher, and not many wanted to hear his message so he preached to animals instead. This ceremony helps us to remember how important our animal companions are and how they show unconditional love for us. If you have an older less mobile pet, or maybe one that doesn't handle social gatherings very well, feel free to bring a picture of that animal and we are happy to bless those.

Centering Prayer Series

There are several opportunities to experience Center Prayer at All Saints. Every Tuesday , a weekly Centering Prayer gathering meets at 6:00pm in the All Saints Chapel. These sessions explore the essence of Centering Prayer. Everyone is welcome! On Thursday , a weekly Centering Prayer group meets in the afternoon from 12:15-12:35pm in Room 224. David Smith is the facilitator and he can be reached at David.j.smith2717@gmail.com or 205.936.5252 Each Wednesday , from 6:00-7:00pm there is a Centering Prayer Group who meets via Zoom. Beverly Brasell is the facilitator and can be reached at brasellbh@bellsouth.net. The 20-minute centering sit is followed by a discussion of a book segment or video on a subject of a contemplative nature chose y Beverly.
