Rites of Renewal
As we move through the preparatory season of Lent, which helps us to ready ourselves and our souls for a glorious Easter, we are reaching out to all newcomers and new members with a special invitation. We invite you to consider deepening your own faith. Namely, we would love for you to join us at the Catechumenate and to consider taking part in a rite of renewal. You may be wondering, what is the Catechumenate and what are rites of renewal?
If you are unfamiliar with the Catechumenate, it is an offering on Sunday mornings at 9:45 in the Great Hall in which we hear a brief presentation from clergy or lay teachers (known as catechists) about an aspect of our faith, then we have time for table discussions to interpret what we have learned. The purpose of the Catechumenate is to deepen our faith as we prepare for rites of renewal, which are Holy Baptism, Confirmation, Renewal of Baptismal Vows, and Reception into the Episcopal Church.
Are you interested in going through one of these rites? If so, please consider doing the following:
- Join us for Catechumenate classes on Sunday mornings at 9:45am in the Great Hall throughout the spring through May 28.
- Send Tara Portney (office@allsaintsbhm.org) letting her know your interest in a rite of renewal.
- Save the date for Bishop Glenda Curry’s visit with us for the Rites of Renewal on April 30.
- While you are on your calendar mark down April 19 (at 6:00pm) or April 26 (at 12:30pm) for a special offering to prepare for the Rites of Renewal, to celebrate our new members, and to share a meal together.
