Sermon by The Rev. Kelley Hudlow
October 4, 2026
It has been 800 years since St. Frances of Assisi. He is one of the most popular Saints in the Church. He has two divine encounters. One in the face of a leper he meets on the side of the road and then when he hears the voice of God as he is praying in a church, telling him to rebuild God's house. This led him to leave ihs life of luxury, take a vow of poverty and he begins to rebuild the church where he heard the voice of God. He was known to preach the gospel to any person or creature who sat still long enough. He died at 44 in 1226. In only two years, he was named a saint.

Our Annual Pet Blessing will be Wednesday, October 7 on the Terrell Commons grass area! Bring your lawn chair or blanket to enjoy Chick-fil-A for dinner that starts at 5:30pm and blessing of the pets will follow. The Pet Blessing is an annual ceremony celebrating the human-animal bond, originating as part of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment. St. Francis was admired for his deep and genuine respect for all creatures and his belief in the interdependency of humans with the rest of creation. He was a fiery preacher, and not many wanted to hear his message so he preached to animals instead. This ceremony helps us to remember how important our animal companions are and how they show unconditional love for us. If you have an older less mobile pet, or maybe one that doesn't handle social gatherings very well, feel free to bring a picture of that animal and we are happy to bless those.
Enjoy fun, fellowship and crafting!
