Centering Prayer is a simple but powerful pathway of transformation that illuminates what it means to ‘put on the mind of Christ.’ This regular prayer session meets every Wednesday evening. The twenty-minute prayer begins at 6pm. You may leave after the prayers or stay for the reading and discussion that ends at 7pm.
More about Centering Prayer: In her book The Heart of Centering Prayer Cynthia Bourgeault claims the recipe for spiritual transformation is surrender, attention, compassion. She goes on to state, “Centering Prayer’s unusual methodology makes complete sense only within a Christian theological frame of reference and vice versa; its simple but powerful pathway of transformation illumines better than any other practice I’ve ever tried what it means to ‘put on the mind of Christ.’ It was ten years into my practice before I realized that the theological basis for Centering Prayer lies in the principle of kenosis, Jesus’s self-emptying love that forms the core of his own self-understanding and life practice.” See Philippians 2:5-11
