A Wellspring of Life Abundant

"A Wellspring of Life Abundant"

Sermon by The Rev. Ranie Neislar

June 2, 2024

We need time to be centered in our spirits, because we can't focus on being meaningful human beings and engaging as meaningful human beings, and being in the ways that make the most sense as God's creations in this world, when we are hard at work. When we are focused on going to work, going to school, making dinner, paying bills, of course, getting groceries, we can't focus on why we are here and what we are doing as human beings in the world. But those are very important parts of being humans. Those things that we have to do, but they don't leave very much room for us to stay grounded on the important parts of how we live our lives. So that is the why for the Sabbath, God created it for us in order that we might live the richest, most faithful, life affirming, full life.

And so as we live out our lifelong discernment, discernment as people of faith, may we be accompanied by courage to lean into the undisturbed spaces of comfort in order that God's Spirit, along with our own spirits, may reach the tame deserts. And may we be part of transforming them from the withered and the dry to a wellspring of life abundant.

We’re excited to welcome our new Nursery Director, Jenni Weikard , who has been part of the All Saints community since 2016. Join us in congratulating her on her new role! From Jenni: I have been a part of the All Saints community since 2016, working primarily in the nursery and supporting our youngest parishioners. Working closely with children inspired me to learn more about how to best support them, and I earned my PhD in child development (with a special focus on play behaviors!) from UAB in 2023. I am passionate about creating a safe, nurturing space where children can grow through play. I am also the mother of two (soon to be three!) wonderful children: Vance (5yo) and Nora(3yo) with Baby Sister expected to join us in July. I am so excited to be stepping into this role to continue to serve in such a wonderful and welcoming community and getting the opportunity to inspire playfulness in your children.
