"When We Talk About Death, We Talk About Life"

Oftentimes, I find that we can be so afraid. Sometimes we can feel so alone, and sometimes it's hard to figure out whether we're more afraid to live or more afraid to die. But it is the unknown. It is the uncontrollable that we so often fear. We try to counter this fear with false bravado, arguing like the disciples about who is best, who is bigger, who is greater, who has more money, who has the greater degrees. We try to protect ourselves with policies and insurance or security systems or other privileges. But this false bravado does nothing to protect us from the real unknowns of life. If we listen to Jesus long enough, we must listen to him talk about death, his death, and ours. And let us not fear. For in talking about death, Jesus is talking about life, his life and ours. And so, my friends, what are we talking about?
